Yes, Virginia, There ARE Stupid Questions

Not surprisingly, this one comes from the PBS website, where a poll asks, “Should journalism be in line for the next government bailout?”

There is some delicious irony in this: an organization that broadcasts news programs (i.e., a journalistic outlet) that already receives a major portion of it’s funding from public sources debating the merits of similar funding for other journalistic outlets. I’m confident this issue will receive a completely unbiased examination. Or not.

Aside from that, it’s a short step from publicly funded “journalism” to government propaganda. The Obama Administration has already taken steps to co-opt the arts. I’d like them to stay far, far away from my daily newspaper.

As for stupid questions, it appears that the visitors to the PBS website know a stupid idea when they hear it, even if the “journalists” of PBS do not.
